Today was not a good day. I took a cleansing bath (salt, sugar, and cinnamon in the water, also doused my scalp with Sea Breeze [a camphorated astringent, I like it for cleansing both skin and spirit]), and feel marginally better. Sleep will help with this feeling better process. Food also, possibly.
Work, home, internet, sleep, lather rinse repeat.
Tea helps keep me sane, at least. I've found a new fondness for teas that have qualities other than "sweet" and "iced" (I am a Southern belle, you know). As of now I'm sipping on some vanilla chai, with milk and a tablespoon of sugar. Lipton's "Red Tea" is also delicious, as is Twinings' Irish Breakfast Tea (although it's pretty terrible when drunk cold). When brewing tea for myself at work I've found that it's almost a necessity for it to be just as good cold as it is hot--because undoubtedly it's tepid by the time I'm able to drink it.
Anyway, just having a bad day and wanted to come let my 'hood know the business.
I'm going through another make-up craze phase. A sordid love affair with L'Oreal's H.I.P. line--this will NOT end well, I can foresee this now, hahaha. I'm not buying any, just playing around with what I've got--but once you HIP, the fun don't......dip? ;P
Other than that, life is just going on around me, and I'm partaking when I'm able--mostly going swimming out at a local lake, and working whenever Quizno's can afford to put more than the bare minimum employees required on the clock. I try to stay optimistic, for the most part.
So getting right down to it, I haven't been scheduled to work for three weeks because they've not been doing enough business to be able to afford more than the bare minimum on the clock. Me being the newest kid on the block, I naturally get slimmest pickin's. Summer school starts this Tuesday, they say business may pick up once some students are in town, and "they'll call me if they need me." I put in an application at a Sonic today; it's better than nothing. Trying to keep this shit sunny-side up, ya know, but it's hard. I find solace in sleeping, Facebook, and my guitar as I try not to feel like a useless lump. Eh, whatever, life is just one big fuckit.
I found a place to stay come August 1st once this lease is done, so I chalk that up as a significant victory for today.
Also, I am seventeen days away from being 21. Oh lawd. It's a Wednesday; I'll probably just buy a beer (whatever I can find in a gas station that's not swill) and get my license renewed and save the real celebrating for when I go to Nashville on the 20th. Post-protest celebration down Printer's Alley, of course!
Speaking of Nashville, the more I go there the more enamored I become with the city. My brothers-from-other-mothers and sister-from-another-mister aside (though technically she's in Brentwood), I enjoy how multi-cultural Nashville is. I'm looking to possibly attend grad school in Nashville, possibly at Belmont...financial aid is a must, of course.
Hmm, I think that's all I have to say for the moment. Here's a video from my Youtube account, depicting mine, Andi's, Haley's, and Cody's trip out to a local lake for some swimming. Enjoy (or don't, I'm not emotionally invested either way)!
Finals have begun...my first is today, with my voice jury at 2:30 and my ear training exam at 3. I'm amped up, ready to do the damn thing as far as juries are concerned. What can I say? I'm a showy little songbird. Sarah asked me if I was going to make a video of myself singing and post it, and the answer is, "....maybe, someday."
I'm more concerned with my piano exam on Monday--I haven't even started working on my song for that. But that's what all-nighters in the practice rooms are for! Yippee!
Once school's done I'm starting work again for December...extra cash is yay. And then Yule! Luckily I did all my Yule shopping back...before Thanksgiving, I think. Haha, no way you're catchin' my ass out on Black Friday--people are crazy as shit.
I changed my layout around, just cuz I got tired of looking at it. I think my little headline at the top is rather funny. :)
Alright, so this is what was going down last week. First, a little bit of background. There's a girl at work named Kathy, and she was fired once from Wendy's because she got caught going through Debra's purse. This is after numerous events of money somehow disappearing from people's purses. So she got fired, but a few weeks later she was inexplicably re-hired again. And guess what? Money started going missing again from purses (those that weren't locked up in the office this time).
One morning I came into work around 10 AM, everything was normal--one of the cashiers, Mary, needed some $5 bills in her drawer. The shift leader took two $20 bills from Mary's drawer, then took the $40 back to the assistant manager in the office who counted out the change from the safe and set the $40 on the office desk while he stepped out for a brief moment to grab the ringing telephone. The $5 bills made it to Mary's register no problem, but when the assistant manager came back to the office the two $20 bills were missing from the desk. The assistant manager and the shift leader tore that office apart--counted down the safe, looked everywhere. In the meantime, the only employee that went back even near the office aside from the shift leader and asst. manager was Kathy.
So the asst. manager, following policy, calls the corporate office to report the theft. Corporate told him to call the district manager's boss, Greg, who called our district manager, Jimmy. Jimmy shows up, finds that something is wrong with the security monitor, and takes out the recorded DVD to watch on his laptop. Before he watches it, however, he tells everyone to listen up and lets everyone know that $40 has gone missing, and if the $40 is returned to the asst. manager before Jimmy watches the security tape whoever stole it won't go to jail.
Of course, nobody came forward immediately, so Jimmy went to go watch the DVD in his laptop. In the meantime, no employee is allowed to leave the store. We can all take our breaks and everything, but no one can go outside to smoke or anything. So we're all sitting out in the dining room, bitching about needing cigarettes and discussing the situation (and watching Kathy like a hawk--she's suspect #1, if you couldn't have guessed).
Did I also mention that the workers who got off work at 2 o clock that afternoon weren't allowed to leave either? They had to sit in the dining room while Jimmy tried to get the security system to work.
TWO AND A HALF HOURS LATER. Long story short, the DVD wouldn't play in Jimmy's laptop, he wasn't able to retrieve video from the head office, so he went to a different store to watch the video. We find out later on that the entire security system was fucked all to hell, and there was no solid proof that Kathy was the one who snatched the money from the office. We're allowed to leave around 3 o clock, and I find out later from the shift leader that Kathy's drawer (from the drive-through window) had $33 extra in it. We got some magic money! It just disappears and reappears at will!
So, in the end, Kathy has not been fired yet. With college and high school starting back soon, the manager wants to make sure they have solid replacements for all the students before he fires Kathy (who is a grown woman, by the way). I feel I should mention also that while we're all on "lock down", Kathy's yammering on about how she has a husband with a job and how she's been to the bank with deposits plenty of times and no money's come up missing, etc. Once she walked away we all looked at each other with "no shit" looks, because you can get caught stealing from cash drawers and from bank deposits. She's an opportunistic thief, obviously. She'll be no great loss when she gets fired; she seems to be the only diabetic in the state of Mississippi that can't keep her blood sugar under control. She's always "getting sick" and calling out--just the other day she DROVE UP TO WORK to bring in a doctor's excuse, and then 20 minutes later just drove back through the parking lot! At random! It's like, 95 degrees at 10 o clock in the morning, if she's so "sick" what the hell is she doing just driving around in the heat?
Anyway, so that's the one person at work I really can't stand. Everyone else is great, and a few of us are getting together tonight at the park to have an impromptu going away party for me! They're not really my coworkers anymore, so much as my friends. I may even shed a little tear tonight :) Only two more days of work....feels so bizarre. I'll miss them all very much, and I'm not sure if I'll go back to that Wendy's if they're not all there. It won't be the same! We're seriously like the employees from those training videos--we're always helping each other out and making each other laugh and smile and shit, it's a pretty sweet life with those guys :D
Just because, I'm going to post a song. One that I love--by THA WHOOOOOO!!!
I've found a fantastic acoustic version of this song here, I love it. I rock out with my cock out on this song. I'll have to record myself sometime.
Tonight, at 11:12 PM, will be my 20th anniversary of living on Gaia. I'm celebrating by working from 11 AM to 4 PM, coming home, getting drunk, going to sleep some time and then getting up at 9:30 AM to do it all again tomorrow. Happy birthday?
I dunno. I just don't care this year.
Just a quick blog before I go to work, because my Vox has been rather neglected. Mostly due to work, and spending all night out riding around or having impromptu bonfires or...well damn, I'm about to give my whole post away in two sentences, ahahaha.
Everyone's complaining about how hot it is, but I love it! It's this kind of weather that reminds me of the summers when I didn't have to work, when every day and every night was a different adventure around the neighborhood or around town. Clambering over fallen pine trees and pretending sticks were swords, and the creeks were rivers that led to Narnia or some shit. I still have my "Davy Crockett" bag, though it's holding a set of sadly-disused spurs at the moment.
I've already made one thoroughly nostalgic post this summer, but I fear that their frequency can only grow from this point on--oh lawdy lawd!
And don't even get me started on this one boy. Damn him, I know it'll never work but he makes me laugh so. Though I still feel like there's only one I could be with at this point in time....he will go unmentioned for the time being, however.
My birthday is this coming Tuesday, and all I have planned is work (feh), and then a super-secret karaoke birthday party that Karaoke Joe is throwing me in Columbus at the Princess that night. Whee!! I haven't been to that place in forever--it's either going to be some serious fun, some seriously bitter disappointment, or me being seriously pissed. Bitch-Whats-Her-Face better not say shit to me, or it will go down in funky Chinatown (orry, had to let that out. My bad).
It makes me irrationally aggravated that Kid Rock's new song about summertime or whatever totally stole the piano riff from Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London". No, seriously. I'll post files later for comparison. Then you'll see Lon Chaney walkin' with the Queen (sorry, I'm listening to that song right now and felt compelled to post that snippet).
The majority of my coworkers are awesome, thusly I need to go see them now. If only I didn't have to put up with stupid customers...
"...how 'bout you? How 'bout you?"
After quite a hellacious weekend at work, I'm looking forward to tomorrow off, and hopefully a more pleasant week to come. My normally humorous coworkers were all tired and strung out (including myself), and the tension was damn near breathable. I hated today and yesterday for that very reason. Anyway, so here am I now chilled out, listening to Jimmy Buffett and enjoying a couple or three of coconut-rum-inated Coca-colas (as opposed to ruminated coconuts and Coca-cola, which that's just nasty as hell yall).
You know what? People need to let go, damn it, and just strut NAKED toward eternity. People care way too damn much. That's my thought for the night.
"Where is the church? Who took the steeple? Religion's in the hands of some crazy-ass people!"
Driving is tiresome. I've driven three hours from Greenville, an hour to take my mattress to Starkville, an hour back to drop off the truck and get my car, then another hour back.
