Today was not a good day. I took a cleansing bath (salt, sugar, and cinnamon in the water, also doused my scalp with Sea Breeze [a camphorated astringent, I like it for cleansing both skin and spirit]), and feel marginally better. Sleep will help with this feeling better process. Food also, possibly.
Yesterday was very stressful, nerve-wracking, and I'm glad I had a nap before it all started.
First thing's first. Icy, sleety, mess moved into the area around 11:30 or 12, campus was closed down by one o clock, and Andi (who is staying with us here in the apartment) had left her phone here. Was unreachable. I was more than a little concerned, as I didn't know what the band directors had planned for all the kids at the clinic, but Andi finally got in touch and I ventured out on the road to pick her up before they got seriously dangerous. The clinic itself was completely canceled; by the time we got back here to the apartment I found out that bridges were starting to ice over, so Andi (needless to say) stayed another night. For a moment during the night we thought we were going to lose power (the lights wavered), but we blessedly did not. So we stayed up until the wee hours of the morning having an ice storm party of sorts!
Onto the second order of business (which might get complicated, so hang with me).
Catching you up to speed--my mother was paying our next-door neighbor (and friend) Megan $50 a week to stay the night at our house on Tuesdays and Thursdays (when my mother has to stay overnight in the town where she teaches community college nursing). Megan's duties on Tuesday and Thursday nights include:
-Make sure Andi doesn't stay the night with Haley (my 17 y/o sister).
-Make sure John (Haley's 21 y/o boyfriend) doesn't stay the night.
-Physically stay the night and make sure none of the above happens.
Myself and my mother have known (or at least, I've known and my mother's had a hunch) that Haley and John have been sleeping together when my mother's not there. I didn't know what Megan's stance on this was, so I called Haley up just to chit-chat. I mentioned off-hand that it must be pretty crazy mad-fun cool-time with Haley and Megan alone in the house on Tuesday and Thursday nights. I asked if Megan slept in Haley's room or on the couch, then there was a hesitant pause. I waited in silence. Haley finally replied, "Oh, she sleeps in mama's bed."
Riiiiight.
I finish chatting, pass the phone to Andi so they can chit-chat, and I text my mother: "Haley says Megan's been sleeping in your bed Tuesday and Thursday nights. Is that right?" Mother says it's alright with her. I call mama, tell her my suspicions about Megan not actually staying the night, judging by the hesitant pause on Haley's part. Mama says she'll look into this, I hang up the phone and wait for the shit to hit the fan.
Finally mama calls me back after arriving home and lets me know that Megan has NOT been sleeping in her bed--in fact, her bed's not even been disturbed! Well, the cat is out of the bag now. I text Megan, saying that she owes my mother that $100 for not doing the job she was told to, and that taking that money was low down. She texts me asking if she can call, I say yes, and she calls me up on the verge of tears. Ah geez.
She tells me that she's very sorry, that she was using that money for gas and will pay it back somehow ($10/week was the agreement), I calm her down by saying all the things like "Don't be upset, people make mistakes, you're at least remorseful and are trying to make it up," etc. etc. She tells me that she did call Haley, look out the window to check up on her and stuff, and she told me that she made sure Andi didn't stay the night--but John is a different story.
Megan says she should have told our mom from the very start that John was staying the night frequently, and Megan is so skinny and slight that there was no real way she could force John to leave. I realize this, as there's no way any of us in that house can physically remove John's big troll-lookin ass from the premises. Yeah, I would have called the cops, but I'm not there most of the time and mother is just fuckin' fed-up with their shit.
Then, oh then--here's the kicker. John told Megan that she should give HIM half of that money. At this point, I flip my shit. I'm officially fed up with this fucker, and want him to explode into a thousand slimy pieces. I finish assuring Megan that it will be alright, and tell her that I need to call mama and tell her this interesting bit of information about John Walls.
So my sister has officially made it supremely difficult on my mother. Haley didn't use to be like this--that boy's made her stupid.
As tempting as it is to shrivel his balls and burn his ass, I'm just going to settle for a good solid hot-foot. No harm, just get him AWAY from us and my sister!!!
And a protection spell for my sister.
Fuck John Walls up the ass sideways.
