That was our dilemma when we were shooting fireworks at Brian's house Friday night...turns out the hissing sound was from none of the above, but from a water tank--which looked suspiciously like propane (it was pitch black, the tank was all the way across the pasture, and we had two flashlights--we're not ignorant, we swear ;)

But yes, just went I thought I was going to shoot fireworks by myself, I mean LITERALLY as I was about to light one, my homegirl Lacey calls me and says "we've got plans, you're involved, Kristyn's house, NOW." I felt rescued, and that's a good feeling don'tcha know!

We all met up at Kristyn's, and after seeing that "the dunes" where we originally planned to shoot fireworks was a huge mudpit, caravaned out to Brian's house in the county where we had land, no light, and pieces of aluminum siding to shoot bottle rockets and roman candles off of >:D

We were having a good old time until we heard a hissing noise coming from across the pasture in the vicinity of a big tank, which we presumed was propane. I offered that it could be cicadas, but as soon as I said that it stopped most abruptly, and we were a little concerned until Brian informed us the tank held water, not propane.

Turns out water's not flammable. Damn, I know, right?

We finished with all of the explosives around 11:30, at which point the streetlight over the water tank kicked on and there was a LOT of fog/smoke. Smog. Foke. Anyway, it looked really creepy, and I had a fun little idea tickling my brain. I told all of our posse to go toward the water tank, turn around, and then walk back toward me. The resulting photographs were tear-jerkingly wonderful (and creepy) look-alikes to any zombie movie Hollywood can produce. Once I have my USB cable, I will share them post-haste! Until then, suspense.

Great fun for all! A nice change from the everyday shit.

We're back from Persacon in Huntsville! Actually, we were back yesterday, but I had laundry to do and was tired, so I'm updating now after work. Persacon was thoroughly more enjoyable than Momocon 08 in Atlanta, GA. I discovered a couple of new bands that I enjoyed thoroughly, The Man Power from Nashville, TN and The Slants from Portland, OR! They were both pretty rockin', although the lead singer of The Slants (Aron) had a little bit more of that spastic, crazy rocker energy onstage--it caught me off guard when they performed their song "Love Within My Sins" as a preview at the opening ceremonies! Aron was so into it, it made my mouth drop.

To be quite blunt, I wanted to hump his leg, but I figured that might not go over well. I actually didn't speak to him the entire weekend, although I saw him around, cuz I didn't have anything particularly compelling to say that he probably hadn't already heard. Oh well--I got pretty chummy with The Man Power; they had a concert in the main room on Friday night, I went there and danced until they shut it down at midnight! The lead singer/guitarist Chris Sexxx (how clever, ha ha ha) stuck his holographic Hello Kitty guitar pick to my forehead at the end of the last song, and some girl was jealous and I laughed. It's cute.

Kristyn and Lauryn did well in the costume contest, we believe, since one of the staff/emcee/decent-actors gave them a wink-wink-nudge-nudge to stick around for the awards ceremony, but we couldn't since it was a three hour tour drive back home. But they left their contact information, so maybe we'll know soon!

The Rock Band contest was a little disappointing, since the contest took place in the game room upstairs and only the winner got to perform on the stage...kinda disappointing. Next year we might make a band to compete--and we would totally do it up with costumes and big 80's rock hair and big-band hype, lol!

Our hotel room (at the convention hotel) was super nice! We all (all six of us) slept comfortably off the floor, with two flat-panel high-definition LCD TVs!! Wtf, we said. The breakfast was nice too--om nom nom.

...Because that's how many fingers I'm typing with on my right hand. Because I got stung by a yellow jacket on my ring finger this afternoon....grrr...I didn't even see the bastard coming. Stung me on the fly, as it were. But not that fly--that would be thoroughly uncomfortable, and I probably wouldn't post about it here--oh hell, yes I would, because it would be funny as hell. And this, ladies and gents, is what happens when you let redneck motherfuckers blog. ;)

Aside from that, I have nothing much to report except that me, Kristyn, Lauryn, Emily, Jason, and....a few other people I don't know are driving to Huntsville, Alabama tomorrow for the anime convention PersaCon. I'm not really big into anime (in fact you could say I'm pretty damn ignorant about all of it), but I do like costuming. And when Kristyn proposed that we all make costumes and go to the convention as our characters from the MMORPG Dofus well...I was all kinds of down for that. Pictures will follow when I arrive back on Sunday, or they may be delayed to Monday...or Tuesday...depends on how I feel after unpacking and talking myself into going back to work on Monday, hahaha.

And then I stole some memes from brownamazon, cuz I don't want to go to bed yet. Hahaha.

Tonight, at 11:12 PM, will be my 20th anniversary of living on Gaia. I'm celebrating by working from 11 AM to 4 PM, coming home, getting drunk, going to sleep some time and then getting up at 9:30 AM to do it all again tomorrow. Happy birthday?

First thing's first--I bought a ticket a couple of days ago to go see FLOGGING MOLLY in Baton Rouge, LA at the Varsity Theatre. You think you know how tweaked I am, but you have no idea. I can't express it like any normal homo erectus--there's just a high-pitched, primal, missing-link scream of glee and ecstasy that comes with seeing one of your-favorite-bands-ever-that-can-do-no-wrong, and not much else evokes such a response.

AHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Ok, I think that's enough conveyance for now. I'm really, really excited. Ticket was a most reasonable price, too. It's on a Tuesday night, but you know what? Fuck band. Forget choir. FLOGGING MOLLY, SON!!!

I love The Cat Empire too (after seeing them at Bonnaroo in the summer of '06), but not as much as Flogging Molly, admittedly. And the odds of them seriously touring anywhere near here anytime soon is slim to none. But their concerts are pretty ballin' too! Lots of good jump-around-feel-good-happy-ska music. So I'll have to pick up "So Many Nights" sometime soon and give it a listen to see if it measures up to their '05 album, "Two Shoes" ;)

Happy fuckin' Friday 13th.

The whole day went alright, until about 10 PM last night. Andi, Jayne and I were driving to a show, when I swear to you a pothole about the size of a T-rex came out of nowhere and fucked my car's front end up. I was mentally head-desking, while Andi and Jayne were "oh shit"-ing as we pulled into a church parking lot (ha ha God, ha ha).

I get out, and yes, the tire was flat. Rim looked ok, but tire--flat. So what the hell. It's dark, there's like one streetlight, and I don't have my phone. Jayne doesn't have her phone. Andi, however, had her phone, so we called my sister.

My KIND AND LOVING SISTER, in no uncertain terms, basically to go fuck off because she was with her boobie-boo-boo kissy-wuvvy John. And did not have time to come FUCKING HELP ME. Us. And then she got all defensive when I grabbed the phone away from Andi and was PISSED AS FUCK?!!

Did I mention also that, at this point, I notice a little trail of fluid flowing away from my car? I get down on my knees (in my skirt and white shirt) and notice a little drip coming from where my radiator is (it's dark, I couldn't see the radiator itself, just drippies silhouetted against the orange glow of a seedy streetlamp).

So, Andi calls Cooter. Apparently he felt the need to bring Alyssa, Jennifer, and Other Random Girl along with him, so they just sat around talking in some weird language that started a lot with "skwiz". Cooter successfully puts the spare on, and comments that he can't find any damage on the tire, and that it might have just had the air knocked out of it. Please Goddess please. Cooter looks under the car, under the hood, he's not 100% sure about the radiator, but he said if I went straight home I would be fine.

Oh, and I neglected to mention how, once Cooter got the spare tire on, the cheap jack that comes with the car for such emergencies then tilted, and fucking BENT itself to an unusable state. Piece of shit.

Andi and Jayne gathered their stuffs, piled in with Cooter and left on their merry way. I limped my merry way back home and watched Metalocalypse, silently fuming at my sister. Dumb cunt. I'm so completely and utterly giving her the cold shoulder the whole weekend. I haven't spoken a word to her today, and the shitty part is I don't think she's noticed.

That's the shit that hurts the most, damn it. If her number had even popped up on my PHONE at ten o clock at night and I didn't know if she was somewhere safe, I would have saddled up right then and there for a fuckin' rescue.

Now my work schedule is all fucked up cuz I'm having to bum rides and shit. I rue the realization that up in Tennessee, Sonja and other awesome people are at Bonnaroo, drinking and dancing all night and all day and having fun.

Just a quick blog before I go to work, because my Vox has been rather neglected. Mostly due to work, and spending all night out riding around or having impromptu bonfires or...well damn, I'm about to give my whole post away in two sentences, ahahaha.

Everyone's complaining about how hot it is, but I love it! It's this kind of weather that reminds me of the summers when I didn't have to work, when every day and every night was a different adventure around the neighborhood or around town. Clambering over fallen pine trees and pretending sticks were swords, and the creeks were rivers that led to Narnia or some shit. I still have my "Davy Crockett" bag, though it's holding a set of sadly-disused spurs at the moment.

I've already made one thoroughly nostalgic post this summer, but I fear that their frequency can only grow from this point on--oh lawdy lawd!

And don't even get me started on this one boy. Damn him, I know it'll never work but he makes me laugh so. Though I still feel like there's only one I could be with at this point in time....he will go unmentioned for the time being, however.

My birthday is this coming Tuesday, and all I have planned is work (feh), and then a super-secret karaoke birthday party that Karaoke Joe is throwing me in Columbus at the Princess that night. Whee!! I haven't been to that place in forever--it's either going to be some serious fun, some seriously bitter disappointment, or me being seriously pissed. Bitch-Whats-Her-Face better not say shit to me, or it will go down in funky Chinatown (orry, had to let that out. My bad).

It makes me irrationally aggravated that Kid Rock's new song about summertime or whatever totally stole the piano riff from Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London". No, seriously. I'll post files later for comparison. Then you'll see Lon Chaney walkin' with the Queen (sorry, I'm listening to that song right now and felt compelled to post that snippet).

The majority of my coworkers are awesome, thusly I need to go see them now. If only I didn't have to put up with stupid customers...
